Yes, yes, the Fantastic Four don't have the best history when it comes to live-action. That doesn't detract from the fact that they present the most obvious potential for the MCU however, and in choosing between who to adapt first - the X-Men, or the Four - it wouldn't be surprising at all to see Marvel take the path less travelled and go all in with their first family, particularly when their team holds the key to so many of the company's cosmic creations.

Like the X-Men, Reed, Sue, Johnny and Ben are all still waiting on the Disney-Fox merger to go through before they can make their first MCU appearance. When it's completed however, and the family can finally set up shop elsewhere, expect them to take on a decidedly more ambitious form than they did under Fox.

The team should form the benchmark for Marvel's high-concept, sci-fi stories, and in opening up the gateway to properties like Silver Surfer, Galactus and beyond, it's not difficult to see them forming an essential part of the MCU's future.
