5. Nightmare

Though Mordo will certainly play a part in Doctor Strange's future, he's going to need a conventional villain.

According to writer Jon Spaihts, Nightmare might make a good villain for the Doctor Strange sequel that we know will follow Avengers 4 and Spider-Man: Far From Home at some point.

"[Nightmare is] one of the big ones, yes, absolutely! There’s sort of a zombie apocalypse Shuma-Gorath elder god scenario. There’s a kind of unreliable reality Nightmare movie that could be made. There’s a few great things, and of course Mordo is out there, as embodied by the extraordinary Chiwetel [Ejiofor]. He can come back and bring a world of hurt at any time."

If the writer is talking about the character, there's clearly a reason, and Nightmare is the kind of figure who would absolutely suit the sequel. Particularly if he was to be teamed with Mordo in some way as a means to get rid of the Sorcerors once and for all.

The MCU is looking for a new Loki right now and Nightmare's definitely the closest candidate.
