9. Annihilus

Before he left Marvel under a cloud, James Gunn had openly expressed his desire to use supervillain Annihilus in a future Guardians Of The Galaxy movie. His enthusiasm seemed to suggest that he would have used him already were it not for the limits of the rights situation, in fact.

There was some excitement that a URL Easter Egg on the Captain Marvel official website was hinting at Annihilus appearing in the MCU very recently, but that turned out to be a long-standing media server named by an internal fan of the character some time ago. More concrete is Gunn's suggested plans and Marvel's increasing focus on the possibility of alternate dimensions.

There's no way we aren't going to see more inter-dimensional threats like Dormammu - particularly when Doctor Strange's Sorceror Supreme position exists primarily as a line of defence against that very thing. And Annihilus is the next biggest extra-dimensional villain who could appear and challenge Thanos as a top level bad guy.
