Of all the characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, few have had as rough of a journey as Bucky Barnes. During his time in World War II, not only was he captured and tortured by HYDRA, but after he escaped his imprisonment he fell off a moving train and nearly died.
Even then, his struggles were far from over as he was then recaptured by HYDRA and turned into the assassin The Winter Soldier. Bucky then spent several years hunting down and killing anyone who posed a threat to HYDRA. That is until he ran into his old friend Steve Rogers, who finally helped him begin to remember his life before The Winter Soldier.
Unfortunately Bucky was then framed for a bombing that resulted in the deaths of several people including T'Chaka, the King of Wakanda. This would end up causing The Avengers to spiral into chaos and force Bucky to go into hiding again.
Then after finally getting some peace in Wakanda, Bucky is thrown back into the fight against Thanos, resulting in being one of the many heroes who disappeared after Thanos snapped his fingers.
