In 2014 Marvel Studios released their comic-to-movie adaptation of the Guardians Of The Galaxy. James Gunn's film was the tenth movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and was distributed by Walt Disney Studio Motion Pictures.
The story follows a group of extra terrestrial criminals who came together by chance. The stealing of a mysterious orb has brought their paths together with their fates depending on how well they can work as a team as they go on the run and try to avoid multiple threats. Gunn directed and brought a strong cast featuring Chris Pratt, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Dave Bautista and Benicio del Toro to the big screen.
Guardians of the Galaxy was met with massive success, premiering in July 2014 and grossing $773.3 million, which made it the biggest superhero movie of that year. It went on to win 52 awards and was nominated for 101 in total, two of those being Oscars.
