MCU Secret Invasion: Which Heroes Could Be Skrulls?

1. Nick Fury

Nick Fury will be a lot of people's prime candidate to be a Skrull infiltrator because of his central role in the Captain Marvel movie that could kick start the Secret Invasion story arc in the MCU. It would also explain a fairly significant plot-hole linked to the time period that film is set.

Right now, the question of precisely where Captain Marvel is - and has been for the past 25 years or so - is a pretty pertinent one. If Captain Marvel is to be her prequel origin, establishing the Kree/Skrull war, then why did she disappear why has Nick Fury never brought her up and where are the Skrull? Surely they weren't all eradicated in that war?

The most logical explanation suggests that Fury was killed in the 90s and has been an impostor since, who took advantage of Marvel's absence from Earth to hide his continued presence. From his key position at the head of SHIELD, he orchestrated the Secret Invasion, rebuilding the Skrull race out of Marvel's (and the Kree's) sight and abusing his position of trust to move every chess piece to his advantage.

And what if he is the reason Marvel has been missing all this time too? That would be quite the way to set up her movie, with a tease at the end of Infinity War then launching into her stand-alone.
