MCU Spider-Man 3 - Everything We Know So Far

1. Sony Want Tom Hardy's Venom To Appear

How this will actually happen given Far From Home's ending is unclear, but word from Roger Wardell - the Twitter user who accurately leaked Avengers: Endgame's Fat Thor, among other things - is that Sony "desperately wants" Tom Hardy's Venom in the third Spider-Man film. He repudiates rumours that Deadpool may appear, but it seems like Venom has a genuine chance of actually making it in.

Of course, fans may remember how, in the build up to Venom's release, there were rumours circulating that Tom Hardy had recorded a cameo. Sony have always maintained that their spin-off was MCU adjacent, but Marvel have always been less eager to confirm ties. Given Venom grossed such a large sum however, one would imagine they're about ready to change their minds.

It would be an ambitious task getting Venom into Spider-Man 3, especially since the character's solo film tees up a confrontation with Woody Harrelson's Carnage, but Spidey fans will be the first to tell you that Eddie Brock has baggage with the Bugle. He worked for a rival publication in the comics, and there's a definite chance he could move back to New York to take on J. Jonah Jameson - purely in a journalistic sense, of course.

Despite Wardell's credibility, it's important to bear in mind this isn't confirmation that Toms Holland and Hardy will be sharing the screen in the near future. Holland has of course gone on record saying how much he'd like to see Venom and Spider-Man share the screen, but it's ultimately up to Sony and Marvel to thrash something out in time for 2021.

Here's hoping it happens all the same.
