MCU: Spider-Man Vs Venom Might Actually Happen
Marvel supremo Kevin Feige says it's up to Sony...
Remember when Venom was back on his way into cinemas and every single week brought a new take on whether his movie was part of the MCU or an annex of it or not linked at all? It seemed like barely a few days would go by without someone talking about it, debunking it or confirming it. It was a confusing mess that wasn't entirely cleared up by the movie (because it never really needed to be).
Now it seems there's a big suggestion that Spider-Man and Venom DO exist in the same universe, and not only that but they might just meet soon.
Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige is on the charm offensive once more and has revealed that he thinks that Tom Holland's Spider-Man and Tom Hardy's Venom will meet in the same movie at some point. His caveat (because there always is one) is that it will be Sony's call:
I think probably it's up to Sony. Sony has both those characters and, has Venom in their world. I don't know what their plans are for another Venom or if they’re doing that. But it seems likely at some point.
Of course they're doing another Venom, Kevin. Of course you already know that. Don't be coy.
The first film made an absolute silo of money, despite having a trailer including one of the single worst lines in the history of comic book movies and some critics not exactly loving the final product. What do those guys even know? Pfft.
It was very much buoyed by the appeal of the character and by Tom Hardy's incredible performance, so there's no way we aren't getting the sequel. And Sony will already have identified the opportunity to bring a Spider-Man into the fold (even as there was some suggestion that Miles Morales might be the one chosen).
Right now, it doesn't even matter if the characters sit in alternate universes because Far From Home is ripping the fabric of reality open (possibly), so the opportunity to bring them together is absolutely there. Let's just hope Sony are brave enough to do it (and to let Marvel help).
