In the end, Gamora's green look is pretty close to what you'd expect from a simple Star Trek alien female of the week, but it works and it's pretty close to what she looks like in the comics traditionally. Or at least more recently. But Andy Parks went through a good few different concepts before the final one was chosen, including giving her purple skin.
