When you have Kurt Russell playing a villain - even a living planet type villain - it's probably best that you let his recognisable face work for your movie. So it's no real surprise that they put him in fairly understated space pirate garb.

But as some other concept art revealed, artist Kevin Chen did play with the idea of having his link to his planet more reflected in his design.

He also came up with some other costumes for Ego - one of which made him look more trustworthy and one far less.
