The Constant Gardner (i didn't like it anyway) is returning to Brazil to helm the feature
Blindness. The movie will be an english-language adaptation of the portugese novel of the same name and will begin shooting next summer on a budget of $25 million. Plot info of the book from

"The novel concerns a plague of white blindness which strikes a man sitting in traffic and soon begins to spread across the country. As the blind are quarantined and infrastructure begins to break down, the story follows a doctor's wife, the only person free of the blindess which afflicts all others". I hated what Meirelles did with The Constant Gardner. I thought he took a good story and made a really bad movie by going for a "realisitc documentary shaky camera style" which only succeeded in making me feel sick. Although I did really like City of God. It was kind of like a brazilian version of
Goodfellas. But please Feranando, don't use that shaky camera again or I may need to bring a bucket to the cinema. source -
