Melissa Leo & Jesse Eisenberg Are PREDISPOSED

If Academy awards do anything they certainly broaden the choices of those that receive them- at least temporarily- and they garner immense interest in their projects. As such, it maybe something of a surprise to learn that the next film to star Michelle Leo (winner of best supporting actress for The Fighter) and Jesse Eisenberg (nominated for The Social Network) are to star in an otherwise commercial independent feature, Predisposed. Vulture say the film will be based on a short written by Philip Dowling and Ron Nyswaner (Philadelphia) which also starred Leo and depicts the destructive relationship between a son and his drug addled mother whose problems are further complicated by the punitive nature of America€™s commercial, corporate health system. Tracy Morgan (30 Rock) is rumoured to feature significantly in the role of Leo€™s screaming drug dealer named Sprinkles. The Oscar, in addition to Leo€™s decision to affront the delicate sensibilities of the many philandering coke addicts that comprised the Academy Awards audience has further catapulted Leo into the limelight; and, in an industry where all publicity is good publicity, one may expect infinitely more attention to be lavished upon one of the few films being produced in 2011 that is neither a sequel nor a live-action comic book. Dowling is looking to self-direct the film which is set to begin shooting this summer.
