MEN IN BLACK 3 films September, SPIDER-MAN reboot in December

Coming Soon reminds us that the much loathed Spider-Man reboot will begin filming in December, which gives Sony another eight or ten weeks or so to lock the casting, script, etc. So far all we know is that Andrew Garfield is the new Peter Parker -- the movie will be set in College -- there'll be a Gwen Stacy/Mary Jane love triangle -- Marc Webb (500 Days of Summer) is directing from a James Vanderbilt (Zodiac) screenplay, a draft of which Sam Raimi hated -- and that Michael Fassbender turned down a villain role to play Magneto for Matthew Vaughn. What villain that was is still mysterious but as we've said previously, it'll be a huge mistake if Sony go for a bad guy they have already used. We are guessing Fassbender might have been up for Dr. Curt/Connors The Lizard, but who knows? If it's Norman Osbourne again... I'm out. Meanwhile, Latino Review have received a video tape of Kentucky born actor Josh Hutcherson's (Journey to the Center of the Earth) audition test which was directed by the insanely talented choreographer Larnell Stovall (Undisputed 3). The scene is clearly a re-working of a setup from Sam Raimi's first Spidey movie with added wire-work and wowser moments and is not at all a glimpse at the new script. We understand it's this audition that had Sony interested in Hutcherson leading the movie for a while. Although well shot, Hutcherson is so bland as Peter Parker it does is make you yearn for Tobey Maguire. Hopefully Andrew Garfield put in a better showing... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3UI_S7uQYw0 And the second meanwhile of this post is that Sony's Men in Black 3 will film in New York this September, once again under the lensing of Barry Sonnenfeld and starring Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones. Yawwwwn. Josh Brolin and Jermaine Clement are in it too apparently, and good for them. Nice paycheck when you can get it. Both MIB 3 and the Spidey reboot are being released within a week of each other, MIB - May 25th, 2012 ------ Spidey - July 3rd, 2012.
