Michael Douglas: 5 Awesome Performances And 5 That Sucked

2. Alex Gromberg - It Runs In The Family

It Runs In The Family01 This movie is like the mid 90s Douglas family version of Adam Sandler's Grown Ups series. It is light-hearted, heart-warming, and packed full of humor that is inappropriate for children. On the personal side, Michael Douglas' decision to make this film makes a lot of sense just as it did for Sandler. If you had the power to kick back and relax with family and friends while getting paid doesn't that sound like an opportunity you would take? Of course, the problem comes like a falling war hammer when critics and audience have to view the results because although this film is light-hearted and heart-warming it is also incredibly dull. Almost nothing happens at all. There is really no story to speak of and the plot elements that do exist are thinner than Denise Richards' waistline. The morality subplot of Douglas almost cheating on his wife with another woman (sound dreadfully familiar?) carries no weight at all since the dirty deed was never committed. Easily the weakest picture in Douglas' acting arsenal, but not by far, the worst.
