2. Solomon Lane Survives!?

Considering that Solomon Lane is the first recurring villain in the entire Mission: Impossible franchise, it was reasonable to expect him to meet his fate's end by the conclusion of the movie.

Surprising it was, then, that Lane actually survives in tact, albeit being shoved in the boot of a car courtesy of the White Widow and covertly delivered to the British authorities.

Whether this is a deliberate effort to keep Lane alive for the next movie or merely a way for the filmmakers to keep their options open, it really felt like this was probably the right time to kill him off, especially with that savage three-way fight against Benji and Ilsa.

It'll be hard to buy Lane being broken out and hatching yet another ingenious plan, so hopefully the inevitable seventh film moves onto something different next.
