Morbius: 21 WTF Moments

17. The PG-13 "Violence"

While Morbius' PG-13 rating prevented it from getting too free and loose with the blood, it's surprising just how ridiculously tame its "violence" is, to the extent that it's still shot and framed to be impactful, yet with most of the red stuff basically nowhere to be seen.

This is most distracting during the sequence where Michael first turns vampiric on the cargo ship, as during the ensuing conflict with the ship's armed crew he freely hacks away at their bodies, even very clearly slashing one of their throats.

Yet despite director Daniel Espinosa lingering on this moment, we're simply left to watch the goon unconvincingly grasp at his throat without a single drop of blood dripping, despite there being the distinct sound of blood freely pouring.

It's technically sloppy and just plain annoying, really. If you can't show the blood, maybe have him snap a bunch of necks instead? Or better yet, stop being so cynical and just give the movie the R rating it deserves.
