More join Kaufman's Synecdoche

foto-200.jpgThe last we reported on Charlie Kaufman's directorial debut was WAY back in August when Phillip Seymour Hoffman and Michelle Williams had been cast. Well you can now add to that list Samantha Morton, Tilda Swinton and Catherine Keener who are all in final talks for the movie. The title of the film seems to have changed somewhat too, it's no longer just called Synecdoche but it's now Synecdoche, New York. Plot info from Coming Soon.... Hoffman will play a theater director who ambitiously attempts to put on a play by creating a life-size replica of New York inside a warehouse. Keener is set to play his first wife, Williams will play his second wife, Morton will appear as his sometime lover, and Swinton will portray Keener's best friend and the dubious mentor to the daughter of Hoffman and Keener's characters. Life size version of New York in a warehouse? Jesus, we knew Kaufman wrote some pretty trippy scripts (Eternal Sunshine, Adaptation, Being John Malkovich) but now he has been given the creative freedom of directing his own movie. GOD KNOWS, what this movie is going to end up being like, this guy could be dangerous behind the camera! Great cast though. Hoffman as a theatre director = genius! source - the hollywood reporter, coming soon
