Mortal Kombat has finally released after an incredibly long waiting period, and it was interesting, to say the least. While the movie is filled to the brim with flaws and mistakes, it still gave fans a bloody and visually striking flick, even if it was very rough around the edges.
The film easily paints itself as the first in a series of movies, not only because of the narrative, but due to the lack of some of the series' most popular characters.
While there were plenty of notable absences, the biggest had to be Johnny Cage, a character who has often been considered one of the leading figures of the franchise.
Not getting the chance to see him in the live-action movie was a disappointment, but as the film clearly implies in it's climax, they fully intend to bring him in, so long as they get to make a sequel.
If Johnny Cage does make his way to the silver screen, then he will need the perfect actor to play him, and the following ten picks would undoubtedly do a great job.
10. Dacre Montgomery
If you want to talk about an up and coming actor who's just waiting for a big role to jumpstart their Hollywood career, then Dacre Montgomery should come to mind.
He kicked up a stir in Stranger Things as Max's brother Billy Hargrove and even had the leading role in Power Rangers. Still, he needs something new and fresh to take him to the next level. Mortal Kombat wouldn't be the movie to make him a household name, but it would be a step in the right direction.
Montgomery is perfect for the part of Johnny Cage as his leading man looks and proficiency with action projects - as seen in Power Rangers - give him all the credentials he needs. However, his appropriateness for the role doesn't stop there, as Montgomery also carries a lot of signature Cage energy through his confidence, self-assuredness and charisma.
While viewers haven't gotten the chance to see too much of a funny side to this actor, he can chuck out some comedic moments, meaning this role would be a perfect opportunity to show the world his humorous side.
