20 Most Underrated Actors Working Today

12. David Boreanaz

David Boreanaz might just have one of the most enviable careers on this list, which may sound hyperbolic until you consider his filmography.

Through 1997 to 2005, he played the ensouled vampire Angel on the iconic Buffy the Vampire Slayer and his same-titled spin-off; directly after Angel ended, he landed the role of FBI agent Seeley Booth on the procedural drama Bones, which he held for its entire eleven season run; and then, straight out the gate, he found himself the lead of yet another gritty drama with the oft-underappreciated war drama SEAL Team.

Boreanaz has many tricks that have made him such a magnet for so many TV hits; there's something noble about the characters he's portrayed, and heroic, but he's always been willing to probe their flaws, unpack their demons - with Angel, quite literally - and he's always been up for a self-aware laugh.

Charming and brooding and as nimble as any TV lead should be - dramatic and comic, tough but open - Boreanaz has been lighting up the screen for thirty years now, and he's never got his flowers.

I get to write about what I love, which is cool. You'll typically find me in front of a TV, or hunkered down behind a book, or dreaming of things far away. Be good to each other. Find my other writings here: https://allthethingsineversaid.substack.com/
