Must Watch: THE BATMAN COMPLEX Featuring Christian Bale & Leonardo DiCaprio

Only one shot in Youtube video editor themanbatman's fake trailer mash-up 'The Batman Complex' is particularly smart or clever, and that's the one where he cuts Leonardo DiCaprio's match-lighting jail shot from Shutter Island with the appearance of a shadowy Heath Ledger about to be interrogated in The Dark Knight. Ok, maybe the first few shots that build up to The Machinist work fine too. The rest of this mash-up is a talented guy throwing every single shot from Inception and Christian Bale's filmography into a melting pot and just seeing what can be cooked from it. This reminds me of what Judd Apatow calls in his scripts 'The Vomit Pass' where he spurts out every thought he has into a draft before coming back sometime later and refining it - cutting out what doesn't work and making what does work tighter. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6RppxhOdby4 I would definitely suggest themanbatman tries again and removes half of the shots, slows down the pace and goes for something a bit more poignant. But he is definitely half way there with the choice of music and the overall concept. I doubt he'll care what I think though, the video has already hit over 41,000 views on Youtube. themanbatman says of the video (via /film)...
he gist of the idea revolves around a few fun topics, mainly the whole €œwhat is real?€ train of thought, and also every fans desire, deep down or upfront, to be Batman at least once in their lives. LOL. And so, I tried to craft a story where we see what happens when someone takes their dream of being Batman a little bit too far. An idea, after all, is a truly resilient parasite. ;) While some of it is still left a bit ambiguous (both unintentionally and intentionally €“ while there€™s only so much that can be strung together, I often like to leave a little bit open so as to see what fellow fans are able to imagine/create)€ I wanted to focus more on the character aspects (and a bit of the tragedy as well), and attempt to move past the initial shock of the psychological twist. One aspect I tried to hint at was the paralleling descent of both Bruce and Cobb. As Cobb and the team go deeper into Bruce€™s mind, they start to encounter the truly dark issues that his subconscious houses. As a result, Cobb himself gets caught up in the obsession of all that lingers in the mind of a Batman. There are a couple fun things in there that are best left to surprise, but all in all, I€™m relatively happy with how it turned out. It€™s fairly fast paced and doesn€™t leave much room to breath, which helps amplify the tension I think. But that€™s just me.
