New Batman Movie: 10 Villains We'll Never See On Screen

1. Red Hood

Jason Todd had the honor of being the second Robin in a long line of sidekicks. However, he was rather unpopular with comic readers of the 80s, and therefore, was eventually killed off by the Joker. Because nobody can ever remain dead, through some magical retconning, Todd was brought back to life. Full of anger and fury, Todd became the Red Hood (the Joker's original crime alias) to enact revenge against his tormentor. Batman eventually intervened, preventing Todd from killing Joker, an act Todd's held against his former mentor since. Why we shouldn't expect them: Red Hood is a fantastic villain for numerous reasons, despite all of the confusing build-up it took to get there. The biggest and most significant reason he matters (in my opinion) is because he represents Batman's failures and inability to act. Red Hood is a haunting specter from the past, there to remind Batman that his choices have severe consequences. This is an emotionally charged enemy and arguably one of the toughest Batman's had to face. And it's because of all of these complications that he wouldn't work well on film. Average movie-goers know of "Robin," but are sure to be confused if a film references "multiple Robins." Then there's the whole coming-back-from-the-dead thing. It wasn't easy to convince comic readers of the scenario, so it'll be even harder to accomplish in a summer blockbuster. Sure, like other villains on this list, Red Hood could be adapted and modified to fit a two-hour running time, but I doubt it would be done in a satisfying manner. Believe me; I would love to see the tear-jerking confrontation between Bruce and Jason on an IMAX screen, but not if it has to be Spider-Man 3'ed to get there. Besides, if you want to see this story arc handled in a decent enough manner, check out Batman: Under the Red Hood. Great voice acting, fantastic animation, and a thrilling conclusion. So, do you agree with suggestions, or do you think I'm full of it? Do you think we'll ever see Harley or Scarface try to kill the Bat? Should we even want to see any of these in a movie? Sound off in the comments below.
