New Batman Movie: 10 Ways to Reboot Nolan’s Batman Continuity

9. Lex Luthor: Mayor of Gotham

With Gotham City all but completely destroyed in the wake of Bane€™s attack, Gotham€™s citizens would undoubtedly be looking to a public figure to repair the damage. This is the sort of thing that makes Lex Luthor€™s brain-box whir into overdrive. Despite him being a Superman villain, if Warner Bros. were ever going to expand their movie universe in light of a Justice League movie, for me, this€™d be a perfect way to do it. With Luthor campaigning for Mayor, you could perhaps have Wayne returning to Gotham to run as his opposition after smelling something fishy. This lends itself nicely to Nolan€™s emphasis on realism: half the drama could be set during the campaign trail; the other half when Lex€™s inevitable plot starts to come to fruition and sh*t starts getting blowed up. And, again in the light of a Justice League movie (and it's potential sequels), this would be an almost effortless and believable way of getting in a Man of Steel reference, maybe even a cameo.
