Talking of hope, Na Hong-jin's new film is one of the year's most distinctive horror flicks - an epic sci-fi monster movie about a coastal town facing off against a hellish alien invasion.
Though certain aspects of the film have proven hugely divisive - especially its runtime, its VFX, and especially its ending - Na Hong-jin has nevertheless banged the drum for a sequel ever since the movie's premiere at the Cannes Film Festival back in May.
And considering that Hope ends on one hell of an aggravating, sequel-baiting cliffhanger, effectively leaving the story and its surviving characters in limbo with an uncertain future, there are sure to be many frustrated if Hope 2 doesn't get made.
The filmmaker has revealed that he's already talking with financiers about the potential sequel, and while Hope didn't exactly blow up the box office worldwide, Na Hong-jin's name carries enough clout that he just might get it made anyway.
