New Line option THE PLUCKER

You'll be checking there are no toys under you bed after reading this synopsis.

THE PLUCKER, a 2005 illustrated novel by Brom has been optioned by New Line, with the hunt on for a suitable director to bring this weird gothic tale to the big screen says Variety. With an uber scary concept and some cool artwork that comes from the book's author himself found at his official website, I will let him do all the work here... Jack and his Box are stuck beneath the bed with the dust, spiders, and other castaway toys. Forced to face a bitter truth--children grow up and toys are left behind--Jack believes this is the worst that can happen to a toy. But when the Plucker, a malevolent spirit, is set loose upon the world of make-believe and Jack is thrust into the unlikely role of defending Thomas, the very child that abandoned him, he finds out there is worse that can befall a toy - far worse. Jack, and a beleaguered last handful of toys, must struggle to rise above their simple roles as playthings in an effort to save the boy they love. Very creepy. It's TOY STORY gone evil. Really cool but equally disturbing artwork from Brom's site...

Brom, who began his carrer as an illustrated artist for video games (did the artwork for the cover of WORLD OF WARCRAFT), novels and the like has worked in the industry before. He was the Creature Concept Designer on VAN HELSING and was the conceptual artist on GHOSTS OF MARS and the SCOOBY-DOO feature. Who is dark and disturbed enough to want to direct this?
