New Line snap up Nicholas Spark's Dear John

sparks.jpgI loved The Notebook. It's exactly the type of material that's right up my alley. I still love Titanic too, even if those of you who originally liked it now call it a piece of crap. The Time Traveller's Wife which hopefully Rachel McAdams will stay attached too, I can't wait for either. You see the truth is, I'm a very sentimental romantic at heart. Variety are reporting today that New Line cinema have snapped up the movie rights to the bestseller Dear John, written by The Notebook author Nicholas Sparks. What's the book about then? Well it sounds as soppy as The Notebook..... While home on leave, a soldier falls hard for a gorgeous but conservative college student. Though they plan to wed, time and distance take a toll on their commitment to each other. Word is that Channing Tatum who was the lead in the surprise #1 U.S. hit Step Up is already attached for the lead role. Sparks is said to be a big fan of the actor and he believes he could be the next break-out star just like Ryan Gosling was a few years back. Ok so it sounds EXACTLY the same as The Notebook but I'm still going to keep my eye on this one. What an awful cover for a book! I thought book covers went meant to be appealing to entice you to read the damn thing! source - coming soon, variety
