New Regency pick up THE CANDY SHOP WAR

Next time you go to the candy store, the owner might be a wicked magician in search of an ancient talisman who can give him eternal youth.

The Hollywood Reporter say New Regency have acquired the rights to Brandon Mull's best selling book THE CANDY SHOP WAR which revolves around four kids who learn that their town's candy shop owner is a wicked magician in search of an ancient talisman rumored to be the source of eternal youth. Slightly reminiscent of CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY perhaps, the book carries the messages of 'drink your milk' and 'don't eat too much candy', all the while giving you are wondrous and imaginative adventure. Road Dahl would be proud. No producer or director is attached as of yet, so expect a little wait on this one. New Regency are the company behind the VOLTRON movie, and will most likely be keeping a keen eye on how the TRANSFORMERS sequel shapes up at Paramount. Both robot movies at this point are expected to be pre-strike films, but this one is not.
