Perhaps more than any other genre, westerns can be relied upon to deliver eye-popping visuals, and News of the World is certainly no exception.

Ridley Scott's regular cinematographer Dariusz Wolski (The Martian) does an outstanding job capturing the natural beauty of the New Mexico shooting locations, taking full advantage of the scenic landscapes to further enhance the film's earthy, grounded aesthetic (excusing those dodgy CGI moments).

Wolski may well land himself a Best Cinematography Oscar nomination for his efforts, though regardless, it's a shame that the overwhelming majority of audiences won't ever get to see those lush, sprawling vistas projected on a huge cinema screen.
