Nick Nevern "Gets Real" in TERRY Trailer

English actor Nick Nevern is wearing his Londoner credentials very firmly on his sleeve for directorial debut, Terry. Shot for a mere £500 on a video camera, Nevern is keen to depict the violent realities of low level gang criminality amongst young people. And well, if his new trailer is anything to go by, he may have done just that and a whole lot more. Festival screenings thus far have elicited genuine critical excitement, and the mockumentary framing device appears to be a great deal more than a facile gimmick: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qOWVv-68D7Y The film-maker and star€™s mission statement is not an unfamiliar one... All to numerous are UK film-makers who€™ve drifted into obscurity after a grisly, but ultimately artless, depictions of decaying inner-city culture, but Nevern appears to have both the dramatic discipline and life experience to carry it through. The man himself states:
"I hope to show people in the UK that you do not need a big budget and big name actors to make a movie. This film was made for less than £500 and shot on a hand held camcorder and hopefully will inspire up and coming film makers to go out and make their own films."
The film receives a limited theatrical release on March 10th and will follow on DVD all too soon after. Hopefully- should sufficient critical attention be forthcoming- further screenings will be scheduled. It all seems a long way from the mockney middle-class affectations of the Guy Ritchie faux-underwrold.
