Not knowing
"the rumor mill is grinding out mostly spurious stuff", says James Cameron on the rumor that he has already rejected EIGHT trailers for AVATAR because he wasn't happy with the way they depicted his movie.
I have no idea where that came from but I havent rejected any trailers (yet) since I havent seen any yet. Theyre still workingon them for presentation, which presumably will be soon.Personally, I'm delighted that we know virtually zero about James Cameron's first feature film since TITANIC some nine months before it's release. Too often we know way too much about upcoming movies, and of course I'm guilty of this too ploughing through any scripts that I come across and daily, telling you more information than you probably ever need to know about any given movie, but to do you remember when you saw CLOVERFIELD? When you knew virtually nothing about it? Do you remember how great that feeling was? How rare the "not knowing" is in this industry. How privilaged we are to have a movie that we can only imagination what it will look like at this point, it's not been spoon-fed to us. We don't know every beat of the movie from the trailers, like say X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE which you could probably work out for yourself every single scene by scene by now. Mr. Cameron, if your listening. Don't ruin the "not knowing". Just give us what you have to and make your millions but only tease us, don't make us ejaculate till December.
