The "Stone Cold Locks"
5. Silver Linings Playbook
Hollywood judges love films like this. From the looks of it, it possesses a dramatic weight, while at the same time projecting a sort of quirky romantic vibe. Not to mention, David O. Russell is no stranger to Oscar's gaze himself and Jennifer Lawrence is pretty much a shoo-in for another Best Actress nod. Ultimately, the main reason this film is more than likely going to get nominated - and it sucks that it has to be put this way - is because the Academy doesn't want to look too old. Jennifer Lawrence is a hit with the Hunger Games/X-Men set, and just happens to be a past nominee. Further justification comes from the "Best Selling Book" factor, as well as Russell's (and even Robert DeNiro's) previous experience with prestige pictures.
