Oscars 2014: 10 Things The Academy Can Learn From Sunday Night

9. Respect the In Memoriam TributeStreisand Barbara Streisand's performance at the end of the In Memoriam tribute was a little off, simply because it seemed like they were honoring Marvin Hamlisch a little more than the other honorees. This isn't the first time we've had a musical performance tied to the tribute reel, but it seemed really gauche happening after the entirety of the reel, right when the moment of silence would kick in. Performances should either be during the reel or before it, but not after. That silence is there for a reason, and that's to honor all who have passed in the recent year equally. Live performances for the In Memoriam segment is a good idea, but it needs to be be better thought out, so as to balance reverence with showmanship.
