Oscars 2014: Gravity vs 12 Years A Slave

1. Best Picture

All signs are pointing to a strong chance that one of these films will take home the coveted Oscar, but which actually deserves it? A movie that has shaken up the entire landscape of filmmaking or one of the most important and relevant films to our society? That€™s the single largest question you have to account for when coming to a decision, and let me tell you, it€™s far more tempting to just a flip a coin and call it a day, rather than continuously bounce around in my head the various reasons showcasing both are deserving of claiming the prestigious award. Both films are freaking remarkable. It€™s as simple as this though; 12 Years A Slave is a movie with a far greater lasting impression and is something that everyone is unlikely to forget (provided they don€™t watch the film buried in their cellphones or something equally insulting). Gravity is an outstanding film, but its technological prowess will be topped, whereas I€™m certain there will never be another slavery film that bests 12 Years A Slave. Winner: 12 Years A Slave There you have it! Do you agree or disagree with my Oscar heavyweights match-up? Comment below.
