Boyhood For the first time in history (only slight hyperbole - it's definitely true since the year 2000) the best film of the year will actually win the Academy Award for Best Picture. When Boyhood was first mentioned as a potential Best Picture candidate after a tidal wave of critical praise, it was an exciting, if implausible, prospect. The film was released in July, came from an indie background, and had a novel hook that was surely going to prove too much for the Academy. But, thanks to unprecedented praise and media-driven hype, the film has defied all odds and become the deserved front-runner. Unless something majorly unexpected happens in voting, this is a pretty dead certainty. And it couldn't happen to a more wonderful film. What are your predictions for the 2015 Oscars?
