Who Will Win? Emmanuel Lubezki (The Revenant)

Who Should Win? Ed Lachman (Carol)

Not an undeserving film in here. If their movies had more momentum behind them, I'd say this should be between Ed Lachman's stylish 50s New York in Carol and Robert Richardson's intimately epic work on The Hateful Eight. But both those movies have been pretty much ignored at the Oscars and it's unlikely their work is powerful enough to override the mass nomination hype machine. Maybe it's a bit crazy to suggest that Emmanuel Lubezki will win the same award three years running (he bagged Best Cinematography for both Gravity and Birdman), but let's be serious here - who else could take his crown?
