Oscars 2016: Predicting All The Winners

5. Best Adapted Screenplay

The Nominees: Brooklyn, Carol, Room, The Big Short, The Martian

Who Will Win? Adam McKay and Charles Randolph (The Big Short)

Who Should Win? Drew Goddard (The Martian)

Erm... Aaron Sorkin anyone? Yeah, that's a pretty big oversight. Although at least this year there's no shameless Oscar bait (The Imitation Game won last year). I would actually be happy to see any of these movies win, with a skew towards Drew Goddard's work on The Martian; it was his work transferring Andy Weir's novel that made the movie so good.

However, I'm going to go out on a limb here and say the award will ultimately go to The Big Short, a film that has been getting an awful lot of hype and here has a chance to stand above the competition. Let's not forget it's in screenplay where the Oscars tend to be the most surprising.
