Oscars 2016: Predicting All The Winners

3. Performance By An Actor In A Leading Role

The Nominees: Bryan Cranston (Trumbo), Eddie Redmayne (The Danish Girl), Leonardo DiCaprio (The Revenant), Matt Damon (The Martian), Michael Fassbender (Steve Jobs)

Who Will Win? Leonardo DiCaprio (The Revenant)

Who Should Win? Leonardo DiCaprio (The Revenant)

This is it. In the past he's been knocked down for being too unlikeable (The Wolf Of Wall Street) or not being Christoph Waltz (Django Unchained), but now it's finally Leo's time.

It's almost a shame that his knock-out performance didn't come in a stronger year, making the victory feel even more deserved and giving us an exciting race to watch - Michael Fassbender had a shocking transformation in Steve Jobs, Matt Damon was hilarious as The Martian and Bryan Cranston was at his best in Trumbo, but none have the feel of a potential Oscar win to them (and Redmayne was shocking in the boring The Danish Girl). Oh well, at least there's no major oversight in the noms (bar Dane DeHaan for Life, although he sadly had minimal awards hype).
