Oscars 2017: Predicting All The Nominees

5. Best Adapted Screenplay

Oscar Nominations
Paramount Pictures

And conversely, Moonlight and Loving moving to Adapted Screenplay makes things a little harder for this category, with the presence of the former in particular a major dent to the hopes of others in the running here.

Arrival, Fences, Hidden Figures, and Nocturnal Animals all have WGA nominations (as does Deadpool, which is rather more surprising), which bodes well for their chances of a nod, but Moonlight being here makes it the obvious favourite, while Lion has a good chance of being in the mix too.

Likely Nominees:

Arrival (Eric Heisserer)

Fences (August Wilson)

Lion (Luke Davies)

Loving (Jeff Nichols)

Moonlight (Barry Jenkins and Tarell Alvin McCraney)
