Oscars 2017: Predicting All The Nominees

6. Best Original Screenplay

Oscar Nominations
Lionsgate

Moonlight and Loving, two movies expected to be competing here, have been moved to the Adapted Screenplay category, which opens things up a bit.

La La Land (Damien Chazelle), Manchester By The Sea (Kenneth Lonergan), and Hell Or High Water (Taylor Sheridan) were all nailed-on anyway, but it means the likes of The Lobster (Efthimis Filippou, Yorgos Lanthimos), 20th Century Women (Mike Mills), and Zooptopia (Jared Bush, Byron Howard, Phil Johnson, Jennifer Lee, Rich Moore, Jim Reardon, Josie Trinidad) all have a better shot.

With Manchester likely to lose out on Director and Picture, though, this is a good chance for it to get a non-acting award, unless the Oscars follow the Globes and give it to La La Land (despite it not being the movie's strength).

Likely Nominees:

Hell Or High Water (Taylor Sheridan)

La La Land (Damien Chazelle)

Manchester By The Sea (Kenneth Lonergan)

The Lobster (Efthimis Filippou, Yorgos Lanthimos)

Zootopia (Jared Bush, Byron Howard, Phil Johnson, Jennifer Lee, Rich Moore, Jim Reardon, Josie Trinidad)
