15. Jimmy Kimmel Burns Mel Gibson

Jimmy Kimmel opened the show with a typically entertaining monologue, which touched on the success of the #MeToo movement in Hollywood, paid tribute to the diverse field of nominees, and couldn't quite resist taking a few easy pot-shot jokes at the same time (because why not, right?)

Perhaps the most hilarious one-liner of the night saw the host taking aim at Mel Gibson, declaring, "Here's how clueless Hollywood is about women: we made a movie called 'What Women Want,' and it starred Mel Gibson."

Damn, Jimmy. Dropping those truth bombs. It's still hard to hate Gibson's work in that movie, though.
