Oscars 2020: 10 Ups & 6 Downs
2. Luke Perry & Others Snubbed From The In Memoriam Segment
This year's In Memoriam segment offered up a stirring remembrance for the film industry legends lost over the past 12 months, set to a chilling Billie Eilish cover of The Beatles' "Yesterday."
And while the segment was appropriately bookended by honouring the late Kobe Bryant and Kirk Douglas, there were a number of names bafflingly excluded from the otherwise affecting tribute.
This year's frustrating omissions were Luke Perry - all the more so given that he actually appeared in one of this year's Best Picture nominees, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood - Airwolf's Jan-Michael Vincent, Oscar nominee Michael J. Pollard (Bonnie and Clyde), The Carol Burnett Show star Tim Conway, Descendants star Cameron Boyce, and horror icon Sid Haig.
While it's perhaps not always possible to include every worthy name, these omissions are glaring enough to warrant being called out, given each actor's noted success and popularity in the industry.
