Oscars 2020 Nominations: 16 Biggest Shocks, Snubs & Surprises
3. Shock: Klaus Steals Frozen II's Slot - Best Animated Feature
Best Animated Feature really seemed like a cut-and-dried category this year, with Disney having two slots carved out far in advance for Toy Story 4 and Frozen II.
And so, perhaps the biggest surprise of the entire nominations announcement was that Frozen II missed out on a nomination, its place being taken by Netflix's delightful film Klaus instead.
It's rare to see such a small film triumph over such a commercial behemoth like Frozen II, which while well liked, was largely accepted to be a step down from the previous film.
Klaus, on the other hand, likely benefitted from being streamable on Netflix over the Christmas period, with its cosy Christmas themes making its release perfectly timed.
This is now Toy Story 4's Oscar to win, but wouldn't it be incredible if Klaus somehow managed to steal it away?
