Oscars 2021: Ranking The Nominated Performances From Worst To Best

18. Amanda Seyfried - Mank

Trial of the Chicago 7 Sacha Baron Cohen
Netflix

As faded movie star Marion Davies, Amanda Seyfried manages to give one of the best performances of her career so far as easily the most likable thing in the David Fincher directed biopic Mank. Still most known for her roles in Mean Girls and Mama Mia, Seyfried hasn't had many opportunities to show off her dramatic potential in the past.

In an incredibly chaotic Supporting Actress category which easily could have snubbed any of the nominated performers in the race, Seyfried is still the least likely to win out of the five other nominations. It isn't so much that she's the worst, it's the combination of the fact she isn't in a particularly stellar film and has a weak awards season narrative.

The category is rather weak compared to the other acting races and Seyfried does little to standout in the mind after the credits have rolled. That doesn't change the fact she is the most relatable character in Mank and will hopefully lead to more dramatic opportunities for Seyfried.
