Oscars: Every Best Picture Winner Ever Ranked From Worst To Best
81. Cavalcade (1933)
It's basically ludicrous for modern audiences to consider that Frank Lloyd's clumsy drama won Best Picture over the Marx brothers' Duck Soup - which, even more absurdly, wasn't even nominated - for though it offers an occasionally agreeable waltz through history, for the most part its well-off protagonists are unlikeable and, worse still, uninteresting.
As such it comes off as especially dated today, and even at a fairly svelte 112 minutes, a bit of a chore to get through. Unless you're especially well-read about the period or desperately craving a cinematic artefact, you should probably look elsewhere.
