Oscars: Every Best Picture Winner Ever Ranked From Worst To Best
3. Casablanca (1943)
Even if you (somehow) haven't seen a single frame from Michael Curtiz's romantic drama, you're probably acquainted with most of the big beats one way or another, and rightly so.
One of the first movies that might legitimately qualify as "bada**", Casablanca makes perfect on its sizzling leads Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman, with the former delivering an expectation-defyingly rich Bogart protagonist, in a layered, dense, witty and altogether beautiful war romance.
Its every pore evokes everything great about classic Hollywood, and at a mere 102 minutes, it's an extremely efficient joint, packing in killer one-liner after one-liner, while Bogart brings enormous gravitas to a production that's still hugely watchable 75 years on.
