Pacific Rim Vs. Transformers - Which Is Better?
Who would win in a fight?
As technology progresses and we stumble ever onwards into the future, films have aptly reflected our experience of what could be just around the corner for humankind. Science fiction is a haven of artificial intelligence, aliens, and of course, robots, with everything from Wall-E to the Terminator depicting scenarios for our favourite metal companions.
With that in mind then, it's only right that we face off the biggest and baddest of those creations against each other to find out who would REALLY win in a fight. It's time to ask the question: which is better out of a world of giant alien robots versus other giant alien robots, and a world of giant robots versus giant aliens. Wait, what?
Of course, I’m talking about Transformers and Pacific Rim, the only films that matter when it comes to huge metallic smackdowns in the name of saving earth. Whilst it may seem pretty obvious from the outset who would squash the other like a car compactor into a tiny metal cube of shame, we’re going to take a look at it all the same.
Buckle up, shut up, and sit yourself down for some serious debate over which giant robot is best suited to planet-protecting glory. Earth is only big enough for one race of machine behemoths, after all.
7. Size
Getting straight into the nitty gritty, this is definitely the largest disparity between our two beloved robot pals, and I’m sorry to say it guys, but size definitely does matter.
Del Toro’s Jaegers come in at over 250 foot tall, with the largest, Cherno Alpha, sitting at a whopping 280 ft. To put that to scale, they come in at just under the height of the statue of liberty, which is certifiably crazy when you image a giant mechanical beast wandering around your city.
On the other hand, Transformers vary in size, and the leader of the Autobots Optimus Prime comes in at a meek 28 ft, making him literally 10 times smaller than the ocean defenders of Pacific Rim. Whilst there's comic book variations of the Decepticons that could put all of our contenders to shame, we're going strictly on the films - so I think it’s fair to say that the well-endowed Jaegers have this one in the bag.
Winner: Pacific Rim
