1. The Depiction Of Abraham Zapruder
Another character who gets life breathed into them is Abraham Zapruder, the camera enthusiast who accidentally captures on film the moment president Kennedy is assassinated. There's very little we know about Zapruder. We know he would eventually sell his film to Life magazine for $150,000, and we also know he never owned or used another camera again. What we don't know, and what Parkland tells us, is his relationship with his wife after the assassination, the devastating toll it had on his mental health, and the moment he gasps in horror at what he had seen. So many JFK films focus on just that - JFK, which is only natural given that he was, at the time, the most powerful person on the planet. What most films don't do is focus on what are otherwise deemed to be superfluous characters, such as Zapruder, the doctor who treats Kennedy's wounds, and the countless other ordinary people who were touched by one of the 20th century's most tragic pieces of history.
Parkland does, and must be commended as being one of the most complete depictions of the Kennedy assassination of all time.
