Paul Bettany an Archangel in LEGION

Paul Bettany who impressed the hell out of me with his energetic and utterly creepy performance as the albino monk Silas in THE DA VINCI CODE, is going religious again for LEGION, a first time feature film from visual effects guru Scott Stewart. The film is being setup at Screen Gems, with Sony in charge of the overseas rights after striking a deal with the project's original founder Bold Films at Cannes.

Stewart got the directing gig after his initial script re-write and his visual presentation of the project "impressed" the head of Screen Gems. LEGION will follow what happens when God gets fed up with humans and sends a legion of angels to wipe us all out for the second time. Our only hope lies in the group of misfits who are aided by the archangel Michael (Bettany). Bettany's a great actor and I'm all for first time directors getting their chance, especially when it comes from their own script. Production begins next month in New Mexico. source - variety
