Peter Jackson casts Rachel Weisz in The Lovely Bones

rachel_weisz_gallery_main.jpgThe superbly talented Rachel Weisz has become the first person cast in Peter Jackson's next project, the movie adaptation of Alice Sebold's novel The Lovely Bones. It's evidently clear that this is the project (or at least one of them anyway) that Weisz has decided to shoot instead of The Mummy 3. To be fair, is it really a hard choice? To work with an acclaimed director such as Peter Jackson or to reprise a character she has successfully moved away from recently for hack director Rob Cohen in a movie franchise that has been dead for many years? Not really a hard choice, even if The Mummy role was probably more lucrative.
In The Lovely Bones, Weisz will be playing the mother of the abducted girl who is feared to have been murdered.
Production on the film is tentaively scheduled for October for the film that will shoot in New Zealand and Pennsylvania. This will be the first time Weisz has worked under Peter Jackson and I would expect that trend to continue with the rest of the casting. Jackson has stated many times in the past that he likes to use a different talent of actors from film to film (only Andy Serkis appeared in King Kong from the huge cast of LOTR) so expect more new blood for this film. source - variety
