Philip Seymour Hoffman: 10 Most Memorable Scenes

9. The Big Lebowski (1998) - Brandt Gives A Tour Of The Study

Hoffman was thrilled to be cast in a Coen Brothers movie, and he made excellent use of his fairly limited screen time in The Big Lebowski. The stammering assistant to Lebowski (the big one) spends most of his time laughing nervously and reiterating the concerns, Dude. There's a lot of competition as far as scene-stealing is concerned, and Jeff Bridges usually hogs the limelight. The famous tour of the study, though, featuring a rundown of the various awards and commendations plastered across the wall, is Hoffman at his most hilarious. Pay attention to the subtle wince he gives when the Dude reaches out to touch a shiny plaque with his grimy fingers.
