Jerry Bruckheimer has told Coming Soon that Disney are aiming for a 2012 release for PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN 4. Franchise scribes Ted Elliott and Ted Rossio are currently conjuring up the "story and plotlines" for the movie which will revolve around Johnny Depp and Geoffrey Rush's characters as Orlando Bloom and Kiera Knightley have already announced they won't be returning. Rossio and Elliott are also currently writing the scripts for NATIONAL TREASURE 3 and a script which is much further down the road, THE LONE RANGER Speaking of RANGER, Bruckheimer insisted that the leading role in the movie had yet to be cast despite the heavy rumor that George Clooney was being lined up for the part. Bruckheimer claims the role won't be cast until they find a director. Johnny Depp was cast a few months ago as Ranger's loyal sidekick Tonto.
